Industrial Heritage Audit for the Ring of Gullion Area- Deadline for Feedback

UAHS are hosting their second public consultation workshop to consider the list that they have put together of the sites and to develop a scoring scheme with the community groups with the objective of exploring in further depth a specific industry/industries for the case studies. Please join us for a cup of tea and to help make sure we don't miss any important sites or stories!

The Ring of Gullion team are working with Ulster Architectural Heritage Society(UAHS) to carry out an Industrial Heritage Audit of the area.

This Industrial Heritage Audit will identify, record and assess heritage of sites within the area’, in order to establish future priorities for preservation, interpretation, community engagement and access. It will also inform the selection of future industrial heritage projects in the area.

This information will continue to inform the work of the Ring of Gullion Partnership and the delivery of the AONB Management Plan. A key requirement of the industrial heritage audit will be to expand and build upon the existing audits and surveys which are already available.

UAHS will be working under the following category titles:

  1. Infrastructure e.g. roads, bridges, railways;
  2. Agricultural e.g. corn mills, creameries, breweries;
  3. Manufacturing e.g. flax mills, linen mills, brick works;
  4. Utility e.g. water, electricity and gas infrastructure;
  5. Extractive e.g. mining activities;
  6. Other e.g. buildings that could not be connected to the above;
