Developing and Managing Recreation in Protected Areas Conference

In partnership with Newry Mourne and Down Council, Ring of Gullion Partnership and Tourism NI, and Northern Ireland Environment Agency, Sport NI are holding a 2 day conference in the Ring of Gullion on 22-23rd June on the development and management of recreation in protected landscapes.

In partnership with Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, the Ring of Gullion Partnership, Tourism NI, and Northern Ireland Environment Agency, Sport NI are holding a two day conference in the Ring of Gullion on 22-23rd June on the Development and Management of Recreation in Protected Landscapes.

There is an amazing line up of speakers and really interesting site visits arranged.

This conference will appeal to the following:

  • Policy makers from national and local government for both sport and activity tourism.
  • Elected members from within local, regional and national government.
  • Staff from AONB and NP management organisations across NI, ROI and UK.
  • Members of the Irish Upland Forum.
  • Staff and committee members from outdoor sport National Governing Bodies.
  • Activity tourism providers.
  • Non-governmental Organisations.
  • Local Ring of Gullion based community associations.

Day One: The first day of the event will be focused on 15-20 minute talks by those involved in development and management of recreation across the Ring of Gullion, Northern Ireland and further afield. Site visits have been organised to interesting projects in beautiful landscapes in the area. There will be a conference dinner to enable attendees to network with colleagues.

Day Two: The second day will involve a range of workshops covering funding, developing recreation

Costs

£25 for the 2 days (includes, tea/coffee and lunch on both days, transport from venue to field sites and conference dinner at the end of day one).

£15 per day for day delegate rate.

Location: The event will be held at the Tí Chulainn Cultural Activity Centre, located in the heart of the Ring of Gullion Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
