The fair is part of this project Shared Landscape Shared Waters and there will be lots to do for young and old. The environment fair will raise awareness of the rivers and lakes in the area and their importance to nature.

Join a number of environmental groups in Cullyhanna Community Centre on Saturday 4th March between 11.00am and 3.00pm to learn more about the local wildlife in the area. A partnership between Mullaghbane and Cullyhanna Community Association, Dundalk Institute of Technology’s Centre for Freshwater and Environmental Studies, Ulster Farmer’s Union, Coomhola Salmon Trust Ltd.,Newry Mourne and Down District Council’s Ring of Gullion Partnership and Woodland Trust has received funding from the Northern Ireland’s Environment Agency’s Challenge Fund.

The fair is part of this project Shared Landscape Shared Waters and there will be lots to do for young and old. The environment fair will raise awareness of the rivers and lakes in the area and their importance to nature.

There will plenty to keep everyone entertained with local music and storytelling from Peter Carragher, eco-art production and a virtual bug hunt field trip with Coomhola Salmon Trust Ltd, there will also be a chance to learn more about local flowers and bumblebees. Local anglers from the area will also be showing how to make flies.

This fair is part of the wider Shared Landscape Shared Waters project which is also looking at working with local farmers with land around local water bodies to carry out soil sampling and there was a very successful river restoration workshop in Forkhill which highlighted how we can spot changes in the river flow.

This will be a great event to bring along the family to with something for everyone! Our water resources are so important but there has being a disconnect over the last few years, through this project we are asking people how they see their rivers and lakes and how they would like to use them! We encourage all the community to get involved.

The fair is open to all and include tea, coffee and biscuits.
