Lúnasa Festival 2018 – Celtic Footsteps of Killeavy

Walk in the footsteps of the Celts & visit the sacred sites of Killeavy Old Churches & St Moninna’s Well, with local meditation coach and tour guide, Ann. Begin your meditative journey of discovery in Ann's quirky World War II hut, with a guided meditation before embarking on a gentle guided walk through ancient Celtic sites, learning about healing herbs and local history.

‘Walk in the footsteps of the Celts & visit the sacred sites of Killeavy Old Churches & St Moninna’s Well.’

Join local Meditation coach and tour guide, Ann Ward, for a day’s slow adventure. Begin your relaxation in Ann’s quirky World War II hut, with a ‘just being’ meditation, which will help you to anchor in the present moment using the natural resources of your breath, your body and your senses.

Next you will take a gentle walk  to the 6th century church, founded by Moninna, one of the first female saints in Ireland (who was christened by St.  Patrick).  Ann will give a guided tour of the ancient sites and you will experience the deep silence and palpable sense of peace within these sacred grounds.

She will then gently guide you up a meandering steep little path towards St.  Moninna’s Well (pre-Christian). Ann will point out healing herbs along the way and a special seat her Father Eddie built in dedication to her Mum Winifred, who was born in the house just below the well.

Ann will share the history of the holy well and Druid rituals, before you connect with the silence of the landscape through a mindful breathing exercise.

The relaxation continues with mindful eating practice of a gourmet picnic, while enjoying a panoramic view of Killeavy (Church of the Mountain).

Finally, you will gently make your way back to the ‘hut’ in Meigh and you will finish your day with a relaxing body scan.

Please bring a yoga mat, pillow and a blanket for the body scan at the end of the day, a small rucksack to carry your picnic, a raincoat, sun cream, sunglasses and please wear walking shoes/boots.

Part of the route is steep.

Cost: £40 – includes a gourmet picnic
