Winter Solstice Festival 2019 – Tracing the Footsteps of the Celts in South Armagh Coach Tour

Before there was Halloween, the Celts celebrated Samhain. November 1st was traditionally known as Samhain, literally translated the “end of summer”. A time for reflection, this was the opening of the half year of darkness of the Celtic year.

The fully guided coach tour will visit the Dorsey, the gateway to the Royal Seat of Ulaid, experience ring forts and trace the pagan story into a Christian setting.

On your journey through the breathtaking landscape of the area whilst has been soaking up human dramas for a long time. Every peak and valley carries the weight of  stories and our Celtic roots come looming up from the landscape.

The tour will stop in Libby’s Tearoom, for a workshop on the tradition food of the time. The tearoom is based at Finnegan’s Garden Centre, Silverbridge and serving delicious lunches and afternoon teas, fresh coffee and specialty teas.  There will be approximately 45 minutes at around 12.30pm for lunch when  you can avail of the delicious food in the Tearoom. Lunch is not provided as part of the price of the tour.

Adults – £15 adult

Concession – £12  (16 & under, 60 & over and students with a valid student card)

Payment– Payment will be on the day of the tour or call into the Ring of Gullion Office in Crossmaglen. Please bring the exact amount as no change will be given. Please leave enough time before the tour to pay for the tour.
