Volunteer Opportunity – Restore St. Jude’s Church

Volunteers needed to restore the inside of St. Jude's church to a state useable by the Camlough Community Choir for their Christmas concert.

Last autumn volunteers and staff from Mourne Cooley Gullion Geotourism, the Camlough Heritage Society and Ring of Gullion AONB joined forces to restore the inside of St. Jude’s church, Camlough.  St. Jude’s church of Ireland church was built in 1774 by Primate Robinson and was consecrated in 1784.  The volunteers cleared the litter, grass, brambles and trees which had taken up residence inside the church.

The work didn’t quite get finished so we need some more volunteers to help remove the remaining tree stumps (already dug up) and this year’s growth of vegetation in order to prepare the site for the Camlough Community Choir’s Christmas concert.

All safety tools and equipment will be provided; all you need to bring with you is weather appropriate clothing, sturdy footwear (hiking boots are ideal) and a packed lunch.  Hot drinks and biscuits will also be provided.

If you’d like to volunteer, please register below.
