Volunteer Opportunity – Revitalise the Dorsey Embankment

Volunteers are needed to carry out light vegetation removal in order to revitalise the Dorsey Embankment and show it's shape more clearly.

Can you spare a few hours to help us revitalise the Dorsey Embankment; an Iron Age defensive structure?  We need to clear a few small trees and generally tidy up the profile of the Embankment so that it is more clearly defined.  The work will also prepare the site for an interpretation board which will tell the story of the Embankment.  The work is likely to only take a few hours so we will have the secondary task of collecting tree and shrub seeds and berries for the tree nursery, possibly in the Poet’s Glen at Creggan.

This work site is definitely one for the wellies or boots you don’t mind getting very muddy.  All you need to bring with you, other than wellies, is weather appropriate clothing and a packed lunch.  All the safety equipment and tools will be provided.

Due to the restricted parking available near the site (Google Map co-ordinates: 54.112054, -6.560206), it would be advisable to car share to the site.  Car shares can be arranged through our Volunteer & Outreach Officer ([email protected]) or via our volunteering Facebook page.

Registration essential.
