Volunteer Opportunity – Site restoration of Glassdrummond Wood

Assisting pupils and parent's of St. Brigid's Primary School to clean up Glassdrumman Wood to make it a safe an inviting area for play and outdoor lessons.

The pupils and parents of St. Brigid’s Primary School, Glassdrummond need your help to clean up Glassdrummond Wood, situated behind St. Brigid’s Roman Catholic Church.  The pupils in the school have been working hard to establish the wood as a safe and inviting area for the local community to engage with nature, including getting a gravel path installed and clearing the site of litter.

The next step is to improve the overall biodiversity of the site by tidying felled wood; using it to creat habitat piles and dead wood hedges.  Don’t worry if you don’t have the confidence to use hand tools, we can teach you the necessary skills, there are also plenty of jobs to do without the use of hand tools.

Any help with the restoration will be greatly appreciated.  All tools and safety equipment will be provided, all you need to bring with you is weather appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear or wellies.

Registration essential.
