Youth Ranger Programme 2017 – Applications Open

An exciting ten day programme for 14 to 17 year olds. During the programme the Youth Rangers will be able to learn a range of adventure and practical conservation skills, whilst exploring the Ring of Gullion area.

Applications for the 2017 Youth Ranger Programme are open until 5pm on 31st May 2017.

Would you like the opportunity to learn outdoor adventure and practical conservation skills?  Do you have a passion for the Ring of Gullion and the wider environment?  Perhaps you would like to work in the environmental conservation field? Then this could be the opportunity for you.

The Ring of Gullion Landscape Partnership is looking for 14 to 17 year olds to participate in their free Youth Ranger Programme running from 17th July to 28th July 2017 (excluding the weekend).  The programme will give you the opportunity to learn outdoor skills such as navigation, zombie apocalypse survival skills and canoeing, whilst exploring the Ring of Gullion; learning about how it formed and its rich biodiversity and heritage.  You will have the opportunity to achieve an Explorer level John Muir Award and a 50-hour Millennium Volunteers Award.  Most importantly of all, its an opportunity for you to learn practical conservation skills and contribute to the environmental management of the area.

If you would like an idea of what the 2015 and 2016 Youth Rangers did check out our updates and photo galleries for 2015 and 2016.

Some of last year’s Youth Rangers had these comments to make about the programme:

“I think that everything we did was useful and worthwhile.”
“The John Muir Award gives the volunteering meaning and recognition so it is good and worth while.”
“I had great fun and was glad to receive awards for my work.  The leaders were friendly, understanding and helpful.”

If this sounds like something for you, please check out the application pack below.  The programme is free; however we ask successful applicants for a £50 refundable deposit to secure your place.  Your deposit will be returned as long as you attend eight out of the ten days.

We look forward to hearing from you.
