Carlingford Ambassadors Programme

DISCOVER more this Summer with Loughs Agency’s exciting new Carlingford Ambassadors Programme. EXPLORE the lough and the surrounding area through water-sports and environmental activities. Help CONSERVE this important natural area so it can be enjoyed for generations to come. SHARE your experiences with the wider world showing them how lucky you are to have this WILD and wonderful place on your doorstep.

The Carlingford Ambassador programme is a FREE programme aimed at 14-17 year olds from the Newry, Mourne and Carlingford area  who are interested in the natural environment. The programme will run each Tuesday and Thursday for 4 consecutive weeks starting Tuesday 30th July and ending Thursday 22nd August.

Participants will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities ranging from water-sports to conservation projects. Throughout the programme they will have the chance to discover Carlingford Lough, gain qualifications, learn new skills, make new friends and discover new possibilities and opportunities.

The common theme of the project is the lough and the purpose of the programme is to get young people connected with the Carlingford Lough, its tributaries, estuary, coast, its wildlife and the recreational opportunities it holds. The hope is that participants on the programme will develop a new and positive understanding of the lough and its resources.

The programme is delivered by Loughs Agency in partnership with Cooperation Ireland and supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Reconciliation Fund.

If this sounds right up your street, please fill in the expression of interest form via www.loughs-agency.org by noon on Friday 23rd July.
