The Council as part of the Ring of Gullion Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Management Plan, are running the very popular guided coach tour of the Ring of Gullion area on Saturday 17th August 2013.

The Ring of Gullion Coach Tour follows a route in and around spectacular volcanic landscape. The tour offers visitors a chance to explore an exceptional countryside rich in geology, archaeology, wildlife and folklore. Throughout the day, ancient monuments, quiet villages and breathtaking views can be discovered.

Therese Hamill, Ring of Gullion Officer said “We have run this tour a number of times over the last few years and we are always over subscribed. We are delighted to provide people with a chance to explore the Ring of Gullion and enjoy the breathtaking landscape whilst learning about the history too.”

Local guide Una Walsh ensures it is an experience not to be forgotten as she thrills passengers with stories of the culture, nature and heritage of the area.

Una said, “It’s great to welcome people form the area who may have never seen the gems on their doorsteps and people from outside the area and let them see how wonderful the Ring of Gullion really is. Many have told me they will be making a return visit because of the coach tour.”

This is a free event supported by Newry and Mourne District Council and the NIEA.
