Newry Mourne and Down District Council’s Draft Plan Strategy Consultation Now Open

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council has published its Draft Plan Strategy, the first stage of the new Local Development Plan (LDP) 2035. This important document outlines how the district will grow and develop over the next decade.

Consultation Period:
Friday 27 June – Monday 22 September 2025
🕔 Deadline: 5:00 PM on 22 September 2025


What Is the Draft Plan Strategy?

The Draft Plan Strategy sets out the Council’s vision for:

  • Housing
  • Employment
  • Tourism
  • Transportation
  • Sustainable development

It aligns with the Regional Development Strategy 2035, the Strategic Planning Policy Statement, and other relevant guidance.

This is the first stage of the Local Development Plan. The second stage will be the Local Policies Plan. Together, these documents will shape land use and placemaking across the district.
