Michael J. Murphy Short Story Competition 2015

Cuimhneamh, the oral history project based at Ti Chulainn is seeking entries for a short story competition based on the theme of this year’s Michael J. Murphy Winter School ‘A Sense of Place’.

Entries are invited in two categories:
1)Aged 11-18 years and
2)Over 18 years.
All entries must be sent in hard copy form to:
The Secretary,Cuimhneamh,Ti Chulainn, Maphoner, Mullaghbane, BT35 9TT.

The closing date for entries is November 6TH 2015.

Prizes for the winning entries in both categories will be presented at the Michael J. Murphy Winter School on the weekend of November 20th / 21st 2015 and the winning writers will be asked to read their stories.

This year’s Winter School will feature contributions from Joe Mahon (Lesser Spotted Ulster), Aine Neachtain (Ph.D. Student in UCC who is writing a doctoral thesis on the work of Michael J. Murphy); Donal McAnallen (O Fiach Library, Armagh).

A women’s forum on the theme of ‘A Sense of Place’ will feature contributions from Donna Traynor (BBC newsreader), Bernadette McAliskey (Former M.P. and community activist), Linda Irvine (Irish Language activist from East Belfast) and others.

There will be music from local acts on both evenings.
