Lúnasa Festival 2017 – Flagstaff Fiesta

Come and join us at the Flagstaff Fiesta this July; a fun filled family day to suit all ages. Food stalls, live music, funfair, face painting and much more.

Come and join us at the Flagstaff Fiesta.

Guided walk
Time: 13.00 – 14.00
Begin your day with a guided history and nature walk with Abby, along the Lockkeeper’s Pad the vital link between Flagstaff and the sea. Join Abby at Victoria Locks (off the Fathom Line), and learn about the history of Ireland’s first summit level canal, which allowed ships to travel from Carlingford Lough on the Irish Sea to Lough Neagh in the centre of Northern Ireland, as well as the wildlife which calls it home. You may be lucky enough to spot an otter or the flash of a kingfisher. You will then follow in the footsteps of history up the Lockkeeper’s Pad to the main Flagstaff Fiesta at Flagstaff Viewpoint, with plenty of stops along the way to take in the wildlife and nature around you.

Flagstaff Fiesta – Family Fun Day
Time: 13.00 – 17.30
In the afternoon join us at the historic Flagstaff viewpoint for our traditional family fun day, which will raise a flag in tribute to all the flags raised here in the past, which warned those living within sight of them of approaching danger and opportunity. There will be plenty for the whole family to enjoy from the Magnus Viking village and reenactments to a fun fair, face painting, live music and food stalls and much more. You will also be able to enjoy unrivalled panoramic views of Carlingford Lough, surrounded by the Mourne Mountains and Cooley Peninsula.
