Lúnasa Festival 2018 – Monday Memories: Tales of the Harp

Join local harpist Sharon Carroll, for a relaxed evening journeying through Ireland's ancient history, from Brian Boru's time to the present, told from the strings of a harp.

If you’ve ever wanted to see a harp close up, learn more about its history or even just listen to its magical tones, then join local harpist, Sharon Carroll, for a warm and relaxed chat and performance.

The recent commemoration of the Battle of Clontarf in 1014 (Brian Boru’s most famous victory), inspired Sharon to set herself the challenge of researching a millennia of Irish harp music to tell the story of the history of the instrument she loves.  She makes no claims to be an expert historian, just a passionate harp player, with a love of history.

You will be able to purchase a copy of Sharon’s ‘History of the Harp’ CD complete with an informative booklet on the stories behind the tunes for £10; a lovely memento of what is sure to be a delightful evening.

Cost: Free, booking essential as space is limited.

For further information: Contact Sharon on +4477 6349 6179 or by email.

Please note: There are no public toilets on site as yet. Visitors should park at the Visitors’ car park, situated beside Derrymore House.
