The Ring of Gullion Partnership have teamed up with the River Restoration Centre with support from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation to provide a workshop on how to understand the rivers in the area.
This one day workshop will cover:-
- Introduction to geomorphology- the study of the physical features of the surface of the earth and their relation to its geological structures.
- Identifying issues with rivers including modification (straightening, widening etc.), poaching and erosion and pollution outfalls.
- A site visit to Forkhill River to practise identifying some catchment issues
- Short introduction to Fieldtrip App.
Lunch will be provided. This workshop is part of a wider DAERA Challenge Fund project called Shared Waters- Shared Landscape.
