River Restoration Training Course

One day workshop to get a better understanding of your river, identifying issues and opportunities for river restoration projects.

The Ring of Gullion Partnership have teamed up with the River Restoration Centre with support from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation to provide a workshop on how to understand  the rivers in the area.

This one day workshop will cover:-

  • Introduction to geomorphology- the study of the physical features of the surface of the earth and their relation to its geological structures.
  • Identifying issues with rivers including modification (straightening, widening etc.), poaching and erosion and pollution outfalls.
  • A site visit to Forkhill River to practise identifying some catchment issues
  • Short introduction to Fieldtrip App.

Lunch will be provided. This workshop is part of a wider DAERA Challenge Fund project called Shared Waters- Shared Landscape.
