Volunteer Opportunity – Site restoration of Glassdrumman Wood

Assisting pupils and parent's of St. Brigid's Primary School to clean up Glassdrumman Wood to make it a safe an inviting area for play and outdoor lessons.

The pupils and parents of St. Brigid’s Primary School, Glassdrumman need your help to clean up Glassdrumman Wood, situated behind St. Brigid’s Roman Catholic Church.  The pupils in the school have been working hard to establish the wood as a safe and inviting area for the local community to engage with nature.   Recently, they were able to get a gravel path installed with funding provided by the Challenge Fund.

The next step is to clean up the litter which has been dumped in the wood over the years, to make the site safe and inviting for the pupils to play, explore and have outdoor lessons in, not to mention making it more wildlife friendly.

Any help with the clean up will be greatly appreciated.  All tools and safety equipment will be provided, all you need to bring with you is weather appropriate clothing and a packed lunch.  Sturdy footwear or wellies are also recommended.  If you live locally and are able to bring a wheel barrow, that would also be a great help for transporting litter out of the wood to the skip.
