Volunteer Opportunity – Repair Slieve Gullion Path

Repairing Slieve Gullion path.

We are looking for volunteers to assist in the maintenance of the Slieve Gullion mountain path (weather permitting).  Areas around the side of the path are suffering from damage by people walking off the path and trampling the peat, preventing heather and grass from growing and leading to further erosion by the wind and rain removing the exposed peat.  We will be putting measures in place to reduce footfall on the exposed areas to give the damaged sections a chance to recover.

All tools will be provided, all you need to bring with you are weather appropriate clothing, sturdy footwear and a packed lunch.  Please register for this event so that we know how many tools to bring. If you would like more information, please get in touch.

We’ll be meeting in the Slieve Gullion Courtyard car park, near the entrance to the forest drive.
